Chris WardCouncilmember Chris Ward was elected to represent San Diego’s 3rd City Council District in June 2016, and took office in December of 2016. He serves as Chair of the Select Council Committee on Homelessness, Vice Chair of the Infrastructure Committee, and as a member of the Environment, Rules, and Public Safety & Livable Neighborhoods Committees, as well as Vice Chair of the San Diego County Regional Task Force on the Homeless.

UCSD Hillcrest Hospital long range plans
A new Long Range Development Plan (LRDP) will guide the physical and land use UCSD Medicaldevelopment for the Hillcrest Campus.  The LRDP will outline the possibilities for growth in a way that acknowledges the Hillcrest Campus’s unique character and relationship to the community, while ensuring that UC San Diego can achieve its vision for healthcare, research and innovation.  The plan will define the urban planning framework and identify population, site capacities and development objectives for the Hillcrest Campus through 2035.

Uptown Community Parking District Board elections
Two Bankers Hill seats (one representing businesses and one representing residents) are open on the Uptown Community Parking District board. Elections will take place at the October BHCG meeting. Are you interested in improving parking in BH? You can still express your interest in running for one of these seats. Contact parking district executive director Gerrie Trussel at 619-846-5754.

You must bring an ID, utility bill, business license (in order to vote for the business seat) proving you live in Bankers Hill or own a business in the neighborhood. Results of the election will be announced at the end of the meeting.

Volunteer for San Diego Indoor Sports Club monthly luncheons
Please take this opportunity to serve physically disabled members at their luncheon. Volunteers are needed for the Sunday, October 22 from noon until 2pm. Volunteer, say “thank you” and enjoy a complimentary lunch, too.

The BHCG is a volunteer group (with no funding or dues) established in 2011 to share community information and give residents and business owners a voice in neighborhood decisions.

The Bankers Hill Community Group meets on the THIRD MONDAY of the month from 6:00-8pm. Please feel welcome to arrive early to socialize and enjoy the great views from the SD Indoor Sports Club & beyond. Everyone is invited to hear the interesting presentations and help make Bankers Hill even better!


The Bankers Hill Community Group meetings are held at the Bankers Hill Clubhouse (also known as the San Diego Indoor SportsClub), 3030 Front Street.

If driving, take Palm Street off First Avenue to Front…turn right and look for the plentiful parking. Everyone is welcome.

Residents, property and business owners are encouraged to join conversations about Bankers Hill and San Diego issues on the third Monday of each month. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about our neighborhood. The meeting presentation begins at 6:30pm, please come early (at 6pm) for an opportunity to chat with old friends and meet new ones.
