Irving Gill’s Architecture in Bankers Hill

Irving GillLocal historians Sarai & Paul Johnson will offer insights into the genius of Irving Gill through his creative processes, including recently discovered and previously unknown c.1908 glass-plate photographs of his buildings and interiors. The Marston House, located on Seventh Avenue at the north end of Balboa Park is itself a crucial part of an exhibition featuring Gill.

Get a glimpse of the exhibition and the interior architecture, illuminating art photography, photo postcards, and rare Gill-designed redwood furniture on display at the exhibition

Do you have memories of Starlight Bowl?

Meet Steve Stopper, a driving force behind Save Starlight’s initiative. This starloghtgroup of activists and volunteers are working to restore, revive and revitalize Starlight Bowl—an open-air amphitheater in the heart of San Diego’s Balboa Park. The Bowl has been closed since 2012, and has fallen into disrepair.

They envision a venue for open-air performances, concerts, cinema, festivals, plays, community events, and musical theater.

Be one of the first to hear their story.

Nominations for the Official Annual Bankers Hill Community Group’s Community Improvement Awards, will be received at the January and February BHCG meetings. Nominations may also be made until March 1, 2017 using the form provided here.

We need a couple of your hours!!!
Did you know that the space we meet in is donated to the BHCG at no cost by the San Diego Indoor Sports Club?

We’re asking for four volunteers on the fourth Sunday of each month to donate a couple of hours to help our hosts. We set tables, serve lunch and coffee.

We’re starting a calendar for 2017. Can you sign up for one month or more?
