Uptown Bikeway Project Meeting – June 5th 2015

SANDAG appreciates the continued participation of community leaders and stakeholders in exploring innovative and practical solutions to primary concerns and challenges for the Uptown Bikeways project. Coordination continues in many areas including developing a complementary parking strategy and incorporating operational and design concepts from the community.

Upcoming Outreach

The project team will present the current development status of the Uptown Bikeways to the SANDAG Transportation Committee, a policy committee of our Board of Directors, on Friday, June 5. The Transportation Committee meeting starts at 9 a.m. and is open to the public at 401 B Street in the 7th floor Board Room. For more information on the agenda item and materials, visit the Committee web page. Agenda materials are normally posted one week prior to the meeting.

Pending the Committee’s direction, we anticipate scheduling and conducting outreach meetings throughout the project area. The 12 miles of project alignments have been separated into several segments and we are planning for neighborhood-level outreach forums to allow for close review of practical design solutions that address community ideas and concerns.

About the Project

The Uptown Bikeways will create connections within neighborhoods, improve streets, and create links to the larger bike network being built throughout the region. A total of 12 miles of on-street bikeways are included in this project from Old Town and Mission Valley through Uptown to Downtown, North Park, and Balboa Park. The Uptown Bikeways project is one of the first high priority projects identified in the San Diego Regional Bike Plan to be funded for implementation.
